Liquor restrictions in the towns of Kununurra and Wyndham will be amended after the Director of Liquor Licensing adopted changes recommended by the local liquor accord.
The Kununurra/Wyndham Liquor Accord recommended a number of amendments to current restrictions.
The amended conditions relate to quantities of packaged liquor (takeaway) permitted to be sold by licensees, the times that liquor can be sold and the pre-ordering of bulk packaged liquor.
In relation to packaged liquor, the following daily limits will apply:
a) Less than 2.7 percent alcohol by volume (e.g. light beer) – no restrictions;
b) Greater than 2.7 percent but no more than 7 percent (e.g. mid and full strength beer) – two cartons; or
c) Greater than 7 percent but no more than 15 percent (e.g. wine) – six bottles; or
d) Greater than 15 percent (e.g. spirits) – one litre; or
e) A half combination of (b) and (c).
The sale of packaged liquor continues to be prohibited on Sundays, Good Friday, Christmas Day and Anzac Day – on all other days it is permitted only from 12 noon until 8pm.
The new conditions come into effect on Monday, November 5.
